Carthago



In Cartagena, different civilizations have lived through time.  The oldest of Cartagena are the Mastianos, who gave the name of "Mastia"

At the time this city was conquered by the Carthaginians and called "Qart-Hadast".  14 years later, it was conquered by the Romans and called Carthago Nova.

With the reconstruction of the city by the Byzantine Empire happened to be denominated Carthago spartaria. During the Muslim invasion of the Iberian peninsula, the city was renamed Qartayannat al-Halfa, and centuries later, Alfonso of Castile called it Cartagenia, which was renamed Cartagena
